Another New Beer Round-up, another entry chocked full of new, local beer. It’s definitely a great time to be a craft beer fan living in H-Town. Check in with us every two weeks for a list of new releases, as well as news on notable upcoming releases. Additional information on upcoming releases is available at our Label Approvals column.

Note: Availability for all beers listed is draft only unless otherwise noted.

Baa Baa Brewhouse – 3 Sheeps to the Wind – A 6.8% NEIPA brewed with Citra, Mosaic, Melba, and Galaxy hops. A solid hazy IPA – very bright and smooth.

Baa Baa Brewhouse – Double Decker – Another 6.8% NEIPA from Baa Baa. Double Decker is appropriately juicy and smooth. I enjoyed the hop flavor here a bit more than 3 Sheeps to the Wind. This seems to be very fitting for the style too. Cans were available at the brewery, but are probably sold out by now.

Houston Beer Scene Pick – Great Heights Brewing Company – Covhefe Hefe – One of the better American brewed hefes I’ve had in awhile. Great Heights nailed the traditional spicy, phenolic yeast flavor and fluffy feel that are hallmarks of the style.

Houston Beer Scene Pick – Karbach Brewing Company – BBH With Espresso – The latest version of Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter is a rich, luscious mix of chocolate and coffee flavors with a restrained kiss of booze from 40% Jack Daniels, 35% Woodford Reserve and 25% Heaven Hill barrels. Available in bottles.

Houston Beer Scene Pick – Saint Arnold Brewing Company – Icon Red: Marzen – This is the latest entry into Saint Arnold’s Icon Series which features a new limited release quarterly. Icon Red is a 5.8% lighter style marzen. The flavor is complex and balanced with caramel and lightly bready malt flavors meeting a crisp mouthful. I much prefer this to their seasonal Oktoberfest. Available in bottles.

Whole Foods Brewing Company – Gigante – Whole Foods adds to the huge list of IPAs they’ve released with this 5.1% hazy session IPA. Solid bright flavors and more mouthfeel than expected push this one ahead of the average session IPA on the market.

Whole Foods Brewing Company – Graveyard Shift – This 11% imperial stout is rich and has an impressive flavor of dark fruit and chocolate.

11 Below Brewing Company – Trade Bait (Batch #2) – This batch features Mosaic and Citra hops.

City Acre Brewing – Stadtplatz – 6.3% Oktoberfest.

City Acre Brewing – Tipsy Raven – A bourbon barrel aged version of their Raven Hill pumpkin stout.

Fetching Lab Brewery – Midnight Watch Porter – A 6.5% porter.

Galveston Bay Beer Company – Double Tail – A 6.5% Belgian dubbel.

Holler Brewing Company – Boisterous Bobcat – A 9.9% double wit that’s a super-sized version of Witty Kitty.

Holler Brewing Company – Romper Rye – A 5.6% rye pale ale.

Karbach Brewing Company – Station 68 8.0 – The latest release in the Station 68 series which benefits the Robert Garner Firefighter Foundation is a golden ale.

No Label Brewing Company – Barley Wine – 12% ABV and appears to be available only at the brewery.

Platypus Brewing – Hey Helga – A 6.8% saison brewed to celebrate their first anniversary.

Running Walker Beer – NEIPA – Debuted at their Oktoberfest party this past Saturday.

Running Walker Beer – Oktoberfest Lager – Another debut from their Oktoberfest party.

Running Walker Beer – Plumb Raisin Black Saison – This 8.2% saison is the latest “Ask Brian” release.

Running Walker Beer – Strawberry Wheat – The final debut from their Oktoberfest party.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company – Bourbon Barrel Pumpkinator – This is being released in bottles today along with standard Pumpkinator.

Under the Radar Brewery – JJ’s Special – A 4.2% English mild released as a test batch.
