This past week, we got to see the first beers that came from the Houston Daisy Chain Experiment (see the event details for a full explanation of the project). This week, we will get to taste another Houston Daisy Chain beer! This release will come from Platypus Brewery. On Thursday, Platypus Brewery is launching a Wee Heavy beer with yeast that they received from 8th Wonder Brewery. We will repeat the same message from last week… don’t pass up a chance to try these Daisy Chain beers.

A number of breweries and bars are having Texas Independence Day parties. Texas Independence celebrations will actually last all weekend. The Houston Flying Saucer (705 Main St) should be one of the best Texas Independence Day parties of the weekend. Also, this year, Texas Independence Day is apparently the official start of Chili Cookoff season.

Check out the list below for this week and get out and support your local brewery or watering hole. Of course, as always, this list does not include all events. Many breweries and bars hold regular events, such as trivia nights, glass nights, stand up comedy events, etc. We suggest checking the website or Facebook for each brewery for more regularly scheduled events.
